Transport
A variety of transport is used throughout our adventure tours in order to facilitate
the activities and includes helicopters, light aircraft, buses and boats. Adventure
Junkies make every effort not to deviate from the proposed itinerary, however
travel changes brought about by weather, politics, schedule changes or road and
track conditions, although rare, are a possibility and out of our control. We cannot
be held responsible for any such changes but will aim to minimise disruption and
changes in such circumstances. Baggage &
Flights
On international flights baggage is usually limited to 44lbs/20kg.
Baggage will need to be limited during the ten days on the road to one backpack/rucksack
per person no larger than 75 litres in size, and one daypack no larger than 25
litres in size. Hard suitcases are not appropriate for trips of this nature. Extra
baggage can be shuttled from Christchurch to Queenstown by our guides with advanced
notice for a fee of approx $60. Itineraries As these often complex
adventure itineraries (using the services of independent suppliers) are planned many months
before your holiday, there are various factors over which we have no control and
which could make adjustments to the actual travel arrangements necessary. If we
are aware of any major changes in advance we will endeavour to let you know. Should
any activities be cancelled due to reasons beyond our control, our tour leader
will offer possible alternatives to the group to consider. These will include
adventure activities similar in nature and/or value where possible. Group Size
We have a responsible attitude towards tourism. We are dedicated to only taking
small groups in an effort to minimise some of the negative impacts that large
tourists groups can bring to New Zealand, and have a maximum group
size of 9. Groups are dynamic in their make up, typically including individuals,
friends travelling together and couples. Adventurous travellers from several countries
and many walks of life will usually make up an interesting and diverse group.
Accommodation We have chosen well-appointed quality New Zealand accommodation for our guests, aimed at being both comfortable and memorable. These will be en-suite
rooms, generally at lodges and private
units. We stay away from larger branded chain hotels and where possible stay
with locally owned businesses as part of our dedication to responsible tourism.
Prices are based on twin share, and should you be travelling alone, you will,
where available be paired with somebody of the same sex. Single supplements are
available to accommodate you privately where possible, but due to some of our
accommodation being in remote locations, some options may not be available from
time to time, especially with later bookings. One nights camping is included in
Doubtful Sound with all equipment provided.
Meals Due to our intensive adventure itineraries we include breakfast and lunch
everyday, and dinner when we are in more remote locations. We have designed our
adventure
trips to allow a good amount of freedom during the evenings for you to try local
restaurants either independently or as a group. Please advise in full of any dietary
requirements.
Travel insurance Travel
insurance is compulsory for all adventure holiday bookings. We recommend Dogtag
and World Nomads as award-winning
insurers for action minded travellers. Your insurance policy document is as important
as your passport and should be carried with you on tour. If you have arranged
your own travel insurance cover, please ensure that you take your policy document
(or a copy of the actual policy document) with you, as your tour leader will ask
to see this at the start of the trip. Your documentation must show evidence that
you are the named policy-holder and that the cover is valid for your period of
travel. The documentation must also indicate that you have cover for at least
Medical Expenses and Emergency Repatriation. Please ensure that a 24-hour contact
telephone number for your Insurance Company is stated on your documentation in
case of emergency. Travel with Adventure Junkies is not possible without valid
insurance, and time is not available for this to be organised on the day the tour
starts. There will be no refund should you not have a policy. What
